New Forum Moderator and increased powers

Isaiah Connell is now one of the super-powerful few on the forums. Aside from a few exclusive administrator powers, he has control over virtually everything on the forums. This puts him on a par in terms of super-powers with Nate and Jen.

Mike, Dave, Tim now have control over the majority of topics on the forum (their old status was a bit redundant if they had to move/change users or move threads between topics).

To any of the moderators - I encourage you to play with your super-powers, don't be afraid. Things can always be fixed and if you have any questions, please ask me. To access the administration screen (where you use your super powers) click the "admin" link in the menu frame of the forums.

Sorry for the overuse of "super" and "powers" - I saw Spiderman 2 yesterday...

Hey John, can I nominate a moderator for the Ambystomid forum? I think Mike G. is extremely knowlegable and would be a good asset.

Wow, I now feel mightier than ever! Who dare defy me now?! Foolish humans!

I was kinda hoping that the granting of expanded powers would coincide with my passing the 2,000 mark in terms of postings. Oh, well

Isaiah, congrats on your meteoric rise to superpower status.

Kaysie - I'll take that under consideration. Thanks.

Tim - you hold the record...

I would like to second kaysie's thoughts, Mike knows "his" ambystoma...Just my two cents...

yes isaiah - good on you! ...BUT that still doesnt give you the right to stand me up! (he was in town this weekend and didnt drop by )...how soon they forget the little folk......

tsk tsk, Isaiah, thats harsh. Congrats on the new super-power.

Tim, you know what you remind me of in that post? Hades in the Disney movie Hercules. I dont know why...

Kaysie, you are hereby banned from this forum!.. **just kidding!**
I'm just anxious to throw my weight around and try out my new powers

I'm afraid I haven't seen that movie, nor even heard of it, being as culturally isolated as I am.

Paris, I've stood you up twice now but get nary a mention

What gives?

John, I'm thinking of adding a Cynops/Paramesotriton/Pachytriton photo collage at the top of the firebelly forum (as you've done already for the Tylototriton forum) -- if you have no objection. I'd submit it to you beforehand for approval, of course

I'm also wanting to move some of the basic health questions in the firebelly forum over to Newt and Salamander Help section (once discussion in those threads peters out).

Congrats to Isaiah on becoming a superbeing now, and thanks Kaysie for nominating me and josh for seconding it!

Tim: no need to get my approval for a photo collage. And move posts as you feel appropriate (no approval necessary - I'm easy).

Re: Mike being a moderator of Ambystomatids, consider it done - he's now a moderator of the species topics and he can also drop things on the help forums.

I'm unaware of the selection criteria, but the U.N. Security Council for some reason springs to mind, with its Perm-5 and the debate over how to accommodate certain heavyweights like Japan and India while keeping the core of the organization lean and mean. I could easily see Mike as a moderator for Ambystoma, Pin-pin for Taricha, and other hardcore, seemingly here-to-stay type of contributors like Paris for future moderatorships. I'd again nominate Ralf as he's got a wealth of knowledge and should be roped in before he strays

(new baby seems to be preoccupying him these days). Alas, this being John's website (not the website of an organization per say), it stands to reason that it's ultimately his decision to make based on various considerations. Anyway, while this ain't no democracy, I think the administrator has shown himself to be a benevolent monarch, devolving powers to the extent he has so far. Best of luck to all candidates!

Ah, by the time I posted that, Mike had already been granted his moderatorship. Welcome to the club, Mike! *psst* ...I'll teach you the secret handshake later! I just hope you're braced for the secret initiation ceremony. An order has already been placed for your ID card and lapel pin

Thanks John for the moderator position...I'll try to keep the us crazy ambystomid people under control haha.
Hey Tim...as long as the secret initiation doesn't get me in as much trouble as my last one, I'm up for it!
