Hello,
My name is Linda and I'm new to the community, I've been browsing the pages but haven't posted for about 3 months, figured is about time. I have 4 axolotls, 1 female leucistic, 1 male melanoid (who just started "dancing around their tank last night), a gfp wild type, and a teeny tiny leucistic who have not been gendered yet. I am so happy to have these new additions to our household. I studied a lot before even considering getting them and it has paid off they are wonderful, keeping them around had actually helped me be happier. Having these happy derby little creatures has helped with my depression immensley. Has anyone else had the same?

Welcome, Linda. Axolotls are awesome! I also did a TON of research before I got an axolotl. I contemplated and researched for like 6 months. I have a pair of wild type brothers named Titus and Philemon, and they make me really happy, just watching them stalk worms and swim into the walls of their tank. haha

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
