I received a juvie in the mail today. He's about 2.5" melanoid. He looks rather unhealthy to me. His gills are shrunk really small and he's really red. He was also skinny. These pics were taken after he ate a chopped up earthworm. I'm thinking he was kept in poor conditions.
If I keep him in cold, pristine water and stuffed full of earthworms will he fully recover?

the water plus earthworms should do the trick.

Also don't know if it's just me but I can't open those pics.

They're kind of large. Here's some attachments. Hopefully they work.

Where did you get him from? Is there a section on this forum to put feedback or a warning of some kind? That way other users don't purchase from this shop/person/site.

There is a testimonials section where people can post their experiences with certain shops/caudata members/sites/products etc.

Thanks, I think it may have been my computer playing up :/

Keep him in cool water that's nice and clean, you may want to opt for daily water changes in a tub to keep better control of the tempurature. He should recover, but like others have said you should put up a testimonial about the seller.

Yeah, I'm keeping him in a separate tub to keep a close eye on him/twice daily water changes. (because I'm leaving chopped bits of earthworm in there with him)

I'm not going to put him with my other two for a while because I'm not sure what's going on with the little guy.

I bought him from a member on here, although their activity seems to be selling related. I didn't want to call them out because I wasn't sure if he is unhealthy or it was just me and he looks normal. I am new to axolotls. I only have what I've learned and seen on here to go by.
His fin looks to start at the middle of his back too. I am worried about him, today all I could get him to eat is one tiny salamander&newt pellet. He completely ignores the earthworms wiggling around him.

Have you sent a personal message to the member from whom you made the purchase raising your concerns? It might be that the courier service they used has not taken particularly good care of the package and subjected it to rapid or extreme temperature changes or just kept it somewhere warm and the poor axie is just a bit traumatised by the experience.
