Hello. I am a nature-loving elem. teacher in NH who loves to help my students learn about their local wildlife. We collected 2 jellyballs of eggs about 3 weeks ago and have watched them develop. The first greenish-clear ball are hatching, and I think they are salamanders but am having trouble finding an identifier for new hatchlings. They have a silvery strak along the bottom, a slight fringe, and are rather slim, not like a frog tadpole. Any help? If they are salamanders, what do I need to do in order to keep them in captivity and alive for a period of time? thanks. ghardy

There's a good chance they are Spotted Salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum). Read up on them.
What are you feeding them? You'll need to feed them in the water for a few months, then they'll become terrestrial.
