New pet, but whats best?

I am planing to replace my tiger salamander which has recently died,
I was wondering whether to get another tiger salamander, or a couple, or another kind of salamander eg fire or ribbed, etc.
can anyone explain the main differances because I don't know much about them in terms of housing,compatability with other species, temperature,lighting,food,size and any other relavent info.

Not fobbing you off, but that's a pretty big question. You should browse through Caudate Central's Species Information pages.

I will say something about compatibility - most (all in my opinion) species should not be kept with any other species.

I'm now thinking about a fire or tiger salamander.

I have been given what I believe is a Paramesotriton guanxiensis (Warty Newt) accompanied by what appears to be an egg. I cannot find any sites that provide care instructions for this species.
Suggestions?

Can you get pics? Also, did you say you GOT a newt with an egg?

Care for warties is similar to most newts. They like a mostly-water setup. Read the FAQs and tank setup article at www.caudata.org/caudatecentral
