Is this the right stuff?
I believe back when I did this in 2009 it was GE “Silicone I” which was like $2-3 a tube locally while aquarium silicone was like $20 a tube. Now I would recommend just using the caulk tube size of the Marineland or Aqueon aquarium sealant. The important thing is to use silicone that does not contains mold/mildew inhibitors and which will kill the inhabitants.
 
I really, really love the look of your tile bottom. Is this tile safe for axies? I am so confused as to what is ok and what isn't when using tile.

I can’t say for sure, when I picked the slate it was one option/color; slate.

I would probably go with it if it wasn’t painted/stained.

glazes and such can have metallic chemicals and so forth in them that I would avoid at all costs.
