i was wondering what if any newts would be at home in a totally swampy type enviorment. like a tank with moss built up to be like islands inside. are there any ? also do u think that moss u buy at a store like dried stuff will mold if it is totally submerged. i noticed this cool look when i was washing a new bag in an old bucket. well thanks for all thanks Jake

Some salamanders could do well in such a setup (Sirens, dwarf sirens, penninsula newts, perhaps Hemidactylium) but for most I would think it would be too acidic. The moss will also mold if submerged like that.

An alternative would be java moss. It's an aquatic plant that grows in thick mossy tangles. It will also grow up onto moist surfaces. Great stuff.
