Hi I have finally got my eggs from the breeder and I got most the necessary things for them but the brine shrimp eggs that I ordered won't come until Monday, according to the person that i got the eggs from they were laid last week is there a way to slow down the hatching time until I am able to get the brine shrimp and hatchery all set up also how much water do you keep the eggs in I have read through the web pages available and couldn't find an answer. Also how do you tell that an egg is a dud? Sorry for all the questions this is my first time attempting to hatch eggs.

Any eggs that arent beaning or look fuzzy are duds.

Keep the eggs in your coolest room with a fan on them - Mine take 2-3 weeks to hatch - the warmer they are the faster they hatch.

They are in my room at the moment at around 18 °C how deep should the water be. There are some that are sorta round like a bean and some that are more straightened out.

if straightened out they are the larva
any still round or misshapen should be culled

about 1 inch of water and not crowded

18 will cause them to develop quite fast

Thank you if I post a pic could you help me out with telling them apart I don't know if I said this already but they were laid about a week ago.

I don't know if you can see them properly but there are only ten there.

Still beaning you have about 7-14 days until hatch

Do not remove any yet - they are all trying to develop.

If in a week there are ones still more round than long and slender then remove those ones

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
