Hi everyone,
my name is karena and i am a new axolotl owner. i love this site and have gained a mass amount of knowledge from all your posts and advice.
as a newbie i was wondering if anyone can offer any tips? also whats the best way to go about getting my axies to learn to interact with me.
i have two babies about 4 months old now, the leucistic Bindi has about 3 inches and the wild type (freckles) is about 2.5" and are being fed on blood worm at the minute.

i will try and add photos tonight.

Hey, I just got my first Axolotl, Alec, last week and he's already looking for me and coming over to the front of the tank to see me. Alec's only 19.7cm and I've only fed him once so far. Try just going to your tank and moving your finger and talking them maybe - yeah a little weird but it works for me. ^_^

yeah thats what ive been doing, i know they can see me and obviously come up when i feed them. i suppose theyre only tiny so maybe ill have to give it a little time. btw its def not weird i do it all the time lol

my glass isnt see trough from the inside, so they cant see me.
and even if it was, they are albino so :p

for any animal, food always does the trick. food = hand. hand = human. human = god.
i dont know about talking, but letting them know that this hand of yours isnt bad, is a good start ;)

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
