Hey everyone! I'm planning on buying an axolotl soon and I was wondering if there were any tips or suggestions you had for keeping a juvenile axolotl alive and happy! Tips about tank set up and maintenance would be helpful:) Thanks for the input!

Quick and basic tips, Get a 3 foot X 1 foot tank and a suitable filter.
Fill it with live plants and hidey places.
Only use play sand, aquarium safe sand or no base at all.
When doing a water change, use a dechlorinator.
Feed your axies earthworms or axie pellets.

But most importantly CYCLE your tank before you add your axie to it and buy a liquid water testing kit to regularly test your water parameters.

When cleaning your tank, take the little ones out and put them in a different container. Little axolotls are not safe with the syphon in there. And there are other options to chilling the tank than a $400 chiller. I know I didn't have the cash to throw down for that; there are lots of options and most of them are significantly cheaper :)
