Hi I am from the Waikato in New Zealand, Great website, excellent information. Can someone please help me. We purchased 11 axolotl eggs, all hatched, they are now just over one month old (sadly three are on longer with us) and they are only approx 1cm long. They have no sign of any legs growing and seem to have stopped growing. We are feeding them on young Daphnia. Any ideas, any information will be great.

Rearing

Hi kiwigurl,
sounds to me like your doing ok because they use up the egg yolk(from thier stomach) in the first two or three day's. As far as the death rate goes, I think you need to expect that.
Oh ya, have a look here...

You could also try hatching some baby brineshrimp eggs as another food, but you seem to be doing well so far. If it was warmer I'd suggest checking any water sources round your property for mosquito larvae or live bloodworm/midge larvae as well.

If you have any other questions check out the axolotl part of the forum, under help and basic care questions.
