How frequently should newts shed their skin? I've had 'Sgt. Pepper,' my Notophthalmus viridescens, for a couple months, and he seems to be shedding almost every week. I'm wondering if this is a normal rate, or if there's something wrong with the water quality?

[Unsure if this is relevant, but he's a young adult, seems otherwise active & healthy. I keep him in a 10 gallon aquarium with a filter, hiding spot, and an Anubias plant. The water source has changed recently since I moved to a new apartment for the summer.]

Thanks in advance!

Haven't kept this particular species, but if he's a young adult that sounds about right. My young alpines are shedding probably around that often right. When they were younger, it seemed like they might've been shedding every couple of days for a while. Between the 5 of them, basically every day there was at least 1 that was shedding.

Thanks, that is reassuring! Here's the little guy:
