I'm planning och getting white sand in our aquarium for the newts.
The problem is that it is very calcium rich and I wonder if that is okay for my C.e.e anyway?
I know they need some calcium but I'm not completely sure how much the sand has.

Btw, they say it's chichlid sand (if that helps anyone). Would like an answer asap since I plan on getting it tomorrow or the day after. =)

I would not recommend using this. It could have a major effect on the pH of the water. When I lived in an area with soft water (low mineral content), I added a small amount of calcium sand (about 1 Tablespoon) to the water to stabilize the pH (prevent it from dropping). But if you use a large amount, it may send your pH into the range of 8 - 8.4. While many newts can live at this pH, they will experience a large pH fluctuation every time you do a large water change.

Thank you!
Then I'll need to find something other. We want a white or a light colour but it's hard to find good sand for the cuties. =/
