Hi,

here are some pics of the development from my biggest peninsular newt larva. The time period is from march till may.

And the last, from july till early august.

Not sure, but possibly this larva is neotenic. It is now ~55 mm long.

Beautiful animals, I agree, at least one look neotenic, I've heard some rumors about that "subspecies" being more likely to be neotenic, so you likely will have at least one stay in the larval state for a while

All the pics shows the same larva ;) But now it looks like the gills start to reduce slowly. the development is slow, but the growth is good.

The September pics...

Would love to show you a juvenile after metamorphosis but it seems I have to wait for the other larvae. This one here has still it's gills.
