I saw this picture earlier and am worried over it's condition. Would like to get other opinions please:confused:

Looks like renal failure<--- from what I am not an expert so I would not be able to tell. I do knowthat this lotl does need vet care to find out if its a infection or something else

I know an axolotl can be overweight and healthy but its his limbs being swollen that makes me think he is retaining fluid which is caused mostly from renal failure

Thank you Alkylhalide, that makes alot of sense! Also have a look at its face..

My first impression is that this poor creature is extremely bloated ( cankles, head) and the gills are very small. Everything screams get to a vet ASAP to me:(

I agree. At first I thought, "he doesn't look that bad..." then I saw the feet. That says "bloat" to me, which could be a sign of renal failure (swelling around the head in particular is one of the symptoms of organ failure).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this little guy needs a vet.

No problem, my wishes go with the wee guy :)
