Hi guys, thought I'd share this - an odd light Melanoid, from December 2012 batch.

Has a dark tail, light body with yellow markings. Got a feeling it will get darker as it gets older, but really nice at the mo...

Oh wow. Gorgeous color

I love it!
Since axies change color throughout their lives, if yours ever changes much, keep us updated. It'll be interesting to see it change :)

Thanks Tephra, yeah - will keep the post updated. Wish I'd taken more photos of it when it was younger :)

That is one really unique axolotl! How have you kept it a secret for so long and thanks for sharing it with us on here. What were it's parents if you don't mind me asking? I would say it was some kind of Leucistic just by looking at it but either way please post more pics whenever you want too. Nicest looking axolotl I've seen for a long time.

Regards Neil

Thanks Neil,

Parents are both Melanoids (unrelated) ~ the female is slightly lighter (I'd say more a grey). This was our first batch of spawn from them, and from the 20 (or so) eggs we kept - got a nice variety: Dark, Albinos and a few really light ones.

As they grew on, the lighter ones slowly became a light grey (I assume will be like the mother), but this one stayed almost white, over last few months that yellow has started to come in.

In a couple more months, when he/she has grown out of the transparent stage - I'll post some more pics :)

Cheers, Phil

that is the coolest axie i have ever seen! congrats!

its amazing to think its a melanoid, having 2 melanoid parents.

Very interesting! Melanoids usually have reduced xanthophores; I'm surprised to see so much yellow!

That's awesome! Very unique. I can't wait to see how this one grows up!

Wow that's amazing. Beautiful I love it.

It kind of looks like all its genes are trying to show all at once, both recessive and dominant to make it look like it has a little bit of every color morph. It is a melanoid but looks like it should be a white melanoid or a leucistic or a albino but it has black eyes and no shiny pigment and its white but yellow and a bit of gray/black all at once! Love it! Most interesting and mind boggling thing ive seen. Do you plan on trying to breed it when it gets older? Id be curious to see the offsprings

Such a cute face!

Wow! A keeper that one....keep the pics coming and let us know, if you breed, what the babies are like.

A real cutie. x

This is very unique and very cool. Congrats and keep the pics coming..

:smile:See, It's things like this that made me fall in love with these lil guys

I've never seen anything like that. Amazing. :D

Hi guys, a couple of recent photos below.

He/She is still yellow, although not as yellow. More dark spots have appeared. Under belly is white.

There is also some curve to the spine, make it look a little stocky compared to its siblings.

Awesome colored axie!
The lotl also looks pretty short in length. Is that a different type of... (forgot the word) 'breeding options/possibilities'?

If yes? What is it called? I think compactolotl would sound cute.
