Okay so a wake up this morning and take a look at my axolotl's and I can only find 2 of 4, I have no idea where the others went to, there just little guys, but not that small... Could the other two have completely eaten the? Do they tunnel? Maybe there hiding in the root thingy i have i moved it, but maybe there inside as its hollow and has an open bottom and top, but i couldn't see them inside.. If they are inside im a little worried about them getting stuck or lost! Any suggestions?

Um do you think i should take the log stump thing out? Im worried about them gettins stuck in there, Im down to one that isn't in there (I hope thats where they are lol)

take out anything that has a smaller space than the axie can fit in as this will cause them to get stuck. im not sure what could of happened to them though. how big are they all? because size/age depends on whether they have been completely eaten.just make sure you check everywhere properly.

There like 3 inch or more.... I will remove it now hope no one is inside...

if you remove it and you are still missing one, you need to fill the stump with water and try and get the axolotl out, or put the stump back in the tank until you see all of them again then take it out and silicone a piece of plastic mesh across the opening they used to get inside.

They like to hide. They will squeeze inside any small hole they can fit into. They also like hanging around filter tubes so be sure your filter is axolotl proof. I'm sure they weren't eaten. Hopefully they will pop up.

yeah just make sure there are no axies inside what you remove. at 3 inches they might still be cannibalistic but there should be no chance of this if you are feeding enough food and if there is plenty of space.

good luck in finding them

Found them, they were down inside my decoration which i have now removed and replaced with some large diameter PVC pipe, A T shaped one with a 45 degree one coming off of it!

Make sure the PVC is drinking water safe. White and tan are usually drinking water safe and black isn't.
At least that was my experience.

Glad you found them all safe and sound

Okay, so i hope the stuff i got is drinking water safe... How would i find out? It is white and maybe 2.5 inches in diameter... They dont seem to like it, or maybe havn't found it... they just have the heads in the corners on in dips suff like that... Actually one just went inside

Maybe they will take to it. Do you think they would prefer pipe that has a smaller diameter? Thanks

mine used the smaller diameter pipe before the larger.. but now they use them both.

How big are yours? Did they only start to use the larger pipe when they got bigger? Thanks

My axolotls were bigger/older than yours before they got PVC pipe.

I got some small axolotls from Michael about a month ago so I am guessing they are about the same size as yours. These small axolotls are in 6 liter tubs of water with nothing to hide in. But they do not have bright light over them and do not seem to be shy at all. When I move them to a tank they will get places to hide.

I have been meaning to ask you if you are related to the Haslem's of Shelly/Firth area? Just because I am nosie

Maybe, I dont know... Are they Haslem or Haslam?
