has anyone gone herping around november in oklahoma? i don’t know what to look for or where to look, frankly. i’m excited to get out there though!

If you're looking for amphibians, cruise country roads in the early evening during or right after rains.

it just rained tonight!! definitely going to be looking for them this evening :)

also, is exploring the canadian river (in oklahoma) worth it to possibly find mudpuppies? i looked it up and it said they were rather elusive, so i don’t want to drive all the way out there, turn over a bunch of rocks in some cold water, and find nothing. would be thrilled if i could find one though

It will be hard right now - try at night in the winter with a flashlight in the shallows.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
