Out of the water...

My guys seem to want to have there heads out of the water in the last few days. I took it as a sign the disolved oxygen levels were too low and introduced an airstone. I had to take it out beacuse I needs the pump to run the filtration system in another tank. Now they seem to come out of the water more. Anyone else have this happen on a normal basis?

I doubt it has anything to do with the oxygen content of the water. Mine like to relax with their heads out of the water sometimes - It saves having to swim up and down all the time. If you provide a land area they will use it occasionally. I don't give them the option because I prefer to keep them fully aquatic. Just check the obvious things like water quality and temperature. If they are fine I wouldn’t worry about it.

I'm keeping mine at aprox. 8-10°C and they stick their heads out too now.

heads sticking out of water while resting at surface is no problem, mine do it also. i would worry only if they climb out of the water.
