Over airation

I've just noticed that one of my axies is scratching at her gills, I'm giving her salt baths, incase its an infection. But I'm wondering what does it take to over airate a tank.
She's in a 2ft tank filled to 40litres. There are two airstones, one in the corner filter and one buried under some rocks. Are two airstones too many?

I personally wouldnt say thats 2 many.. I used to have the same in my previous tank with no problems... just carry on salt bathing and see what happens

It takes a lot to over aerate a tank. You would REALLY have to be trying to do it, as excess oxygen just dissipates out of the water. Unless you can see very tiny airbubbles suspended in the water at all times, it's not over aerated.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
