Well I have a question about the restless behavior of my P. cinereus. He keeps coming out earlier in the day and climbing up the glass in his tank. I think it is because he wants to mate, but, I'm not sure. I know its not because his tank is too dry, I mist it alot. What do you think?

If I could always understand a salamanders behavior I would be on easy street now, unfortunately its often very difficult to do. Many salamanders and newts i've kept have climbed the glass for no reason I could find. My first guess was the moisture. Make sure that there are both moist and drier spots so they can regulate. It could also be as a result of stress, maybe increasing temperature. Your best bet is to try changing certain factors and see if it stops. I wouldn't worry too much unless it start to dessicate or stops eating.

The terraium wasn't moist enough that day. I misted it more and he climbed down and began acting normal again.
