Painting Walls?

I want to paint my walls, but there is an axolotl tank in the room, and I am worried about her safety with the paint fumes. Do you think that low VOC paint would be safe? Are there any other precautions I should take? I am open to any suggestions or solutions! Thank you!

Run activated carbon during and after painting to remove anything in the water. Also put a towel or 2 over the tank when painting and while the paint is drying.
