They should be kept in an aquarium...check out the caudatacentral site for a brief description of how to keep it. There is loads of stuff on Axolotls around. See the common names section as well (the scientific name is Ambystoma mexicanum).

yes well i had a look at keeping them before i got him...

i wasn't going to take him out of the water hehe

but he is sitting there doing nothing for a while now.... hmmmm i hope hes ok.

Pip, welcome to the group.

Axies are a fairly inactive bunch most of the time. Try checking the tank sometime during the night and you'll find they have a whole different night life going on.

Good luck with Pedro,

my catfish were insane all over the place! maybe i should get him a friend.... maybe he is a she! hmm i cant tell...

Pip Can we have a close up picture of the tank?? we all like to see new axies and their tanks!!

Hey Pip,
An axolotl to the best of my experience is happiest in the water. They swim, they interact (when being fed and when not), and that is they way it should be. However, as an RSPCA volunteer, there are plenty of cool animals which exist on terrestria and which love to interact with humans! Think about it. ( But axys are definitely water critters!)

hello!

I cant get a close up of the tank because i only have a web cam and he is too far away!
