Pics of 'Max'

A couple of months ago I posted a couple of pics of my youngsters, so let me introduce 'Max' ... He (She ?) is about 5 times the size of any other axies that are left from the 100 eggs or so that I tried to bring to maturity (I still have about 20 babies).

Because of the huge size difference between 'him' and the others, I suspect that (s)he's been having lunch a couple of time from his bro's and sis ;)

The 2nd pair of legs is already looking out

Max is adorable!

I have a baby goldfish who is like Max...easily 5 times the size of its siblings. It was defiantly feeding on them and had to be separated.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
