Parc Naturel des Pyrénées ( France ): Female of Triturus helveticus helveticus . These popolations have a characteristic orange belly with black dots ( never yellow ). In this mountain lake and the mixed forest of Abies alba/Fagus sylvatica lives Bufo bufo , Salamandra salamandra fastuosa , Triturus helveticus helveticus and Alytes obstetricans obstetricans

Wow, that last pic is breathtaking!
I usually prefer caudates to anurans, but I have to say that the Bufo looks very cool.
I'll work hard this fall to finish up with my masters degree, knowing that I can start working in the spring to get money to travel down to Spain and see this!

. The toad is an Alytes obstetricans obstetricans , but the more abundant toad were Bufo bufo . I didn´t see Euproctus asper in this lake , but I'm sure that this specie prefers the small rivers of the forest , where I have seen larvae .
