Here's a picture of an unknown plant that is growing in my tank:

It originally came as a leaf with a batch of duckweed I bought for 75 cents. I figured it was some sort of deformed, oversized duckweed. But now it is growing new leaves and I'm curious now if it is just some type of weird duckweed or another type of plant. Can someone give me a surefire ID?

Thanks!

Well, its not a sure fire ID, but it may be a variegated java fern. I purchased a bunch of java fern a while back and some of the plants had leaves like what you have pictured. They are doing well and growing in my very low light conditions, so I think that supports that at least what I have (and it does look a whole lot like what you have) is a java fern. Hopefully some more experienced botanists on this site can give you that positive, for sure ID.

My initial thoughts were watersprite too. But I'm not a botanist.

It's a Ceratopteris species, probably Ceratopteris cornutus.

Great! Thanks for the assistance, everyone. I looked at pictures of Ceratopteris plants and I think that is it. Looks like I scored a really nice plant for the 75 cents I paid for the duckweed! Haha. I've decided to plant this in the sand so that it has a foundation from which to grow.
