Trying to redo my tank, I have a 35 gallon tank with two female axolotls with two large snails. I want to add live plants and aquascape the tank. Any suggestions or pictures? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I personally really like using java fern. It does well in the temperature/light range that axolotls require and doesn't need to be planted (in fact, it CAN'T be planted) in substrate, it just needs to anchor itself to a rock or piece of wood.

I like Java fern too, mounted on pieces of wood.
You can also use more fast-growing plants if you have enough light.
It has often been said axolotls don't like bright light but with a lot of actively growing plants, there will be enough shady areas in the tank to make your axolotls happy. Moreover, these plants (Egeria, hornwort,...) will improve water quality.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
