Question: Plants

I am brand spankin new to the forum, and I am trying to get my 55 gallon tank all planned out. I will be having sand in it and will keep the tank under 68F always. I will be making a 3D slate background and additionally have slate caves for the axolotls. I also have a few pink quartz rocks to give it some color. I'm not doing any driftwood because it's so flippin expensive. I am trying to figure out what plants would do well in this setup. Any suggestions?

Anubias do well, since they are low light, can tolerate the cooler temps, and can be anchored to something rather than needing their roots submerged.

Do you think if I used a plant anchor of some kind I would be able to keep the plants in the sand?

Depends how deep the sand is, sometimes you can just plants those suckers right in with no weights, you could use them though, I don't see any harm

Sounds great. So am I limited to anubias? Not terribly familiar with the plant names so I'll have to do quite a bit of looking to see what would look right with slate and a few pink quartz plus the sand.

I know Anubias do really well (I have 4 or 5 of them) just tied to a rock or piece of driftwood. I think Amazon Sword is another one that does fine in cold water with low light, but that one needs to have its roots in some kind of substrate (your sand).
