I have two male Cynops ensicauda ensicaudas. Or so I'v been told. The breeder of my guys wasn't 100% sure about the subspecies or that is it possible that the two subspecies have been mixed in some point. The breeder got her animals from a "Lovely lady" 10 years ago. She told the animals are Japanese swordtail newts. Initially, these newts were purchased in an aquarium store in the early 2000s. The store no longer exists so I can't have information there.
I used to breed Cynops orientalis some years ago. I really would like to breed C.e.e. now.
Is it even possible to identify these subspecies from pictures and videos? I have pictures from my animals, their parents and siblings and also the eggs.
First, pictures of the eggs my newts hatched from. Then pictures from the parents and siblings of my newts. In the video you can see my two males in breeding season colors.
