Hi, I’m hoping someone can please help me.. I’m relatively new to axolotls.. I will attach photos. One of my axolotls looks to be covered in a type mould? I don’t know what it is or how to treat it.. she went from looking completely normal to looking like this over night. She’s also not eating, I have tried blood worms and she’s not showing any interest at all. What do I do? What is this?
I have removed her from tank, checked the water perametors and can’t remember what they were but seemed to be normalish.. the other axolotl in the tank seems to be fine.. have empty’d tank and moved this sick one to a Tupperware container and have tubbed the other axolotl that seems fine.

To me, it looks like it could be fungus. This site has some ways to identify and treat it: Axolotl Fungus Prevention & Treatment • Fantaxies. Before you treat her, make sure you agree that the description matches what you’re seeing on her. I’ve never experienced it with mine, so I can’t say for sure, but it’s my best guess. Some of the treatments suggested are more “wide spectrum” and will treat other things too, like bacterial infections, so don’t totally brush them off if you don’t think it’s fungus. You can always research the treatments to see what they can specifically be used for. You may want to post your water parameters, tank size, and filtration, so others can better assist and we can help you ensure you don’t have to worry about it happening again in the future.

I think she has passed.. although I’m not 100% certain. If you have any information on how I can tell if she’s very sick or has passed on i would appreciate it. I have never had to deal with this before.

if she moves at all or flicks her gills she is still alive.

I’m so sorry to hear! ☹️ I haven’t had any experience with it either. I wish I could have helped more.

Im so sorry, although it is probably because you didnt treat her right away, you shouldve tubbed her in fresh cold dechlorinated water with salt baths everyday for 6 days then 100% pure black tea :(
