Hey there, I really need advice. I've had two axolotls for a while now and i just finished treating them twice consecutively for a fungal infection using maracyn. I didn't have a hospital tank so I treated them in their shared tank. It hasn't seemed to help much and I don't know what else to do or have anywhere else to turn to, no one knows about axolotls and I really need advice from experienced aquarist.

My treatment tank is a 2 liter Tupperware container with holes cut in the lid. I use that for salt baths or fridging. My hospital tank is a similar tub about 8 liter. It is not costly to buy.

Treating your shared tank with an antibiotic probably wreaked havoc on your good bacteria. Watch your water parameters carefully. Your axolotls are fighting this off. You don't want them dealing with poor quality water too.

Salt bath is your next best move. Keep us posted on this thread.

Ditch the chemicals. Complete guide to fungus treatment here.
Indian almond leaves are a good start.
What's your tank temp and parameters? Fungus usually invades a small injury or slime coat breach - and is much more common in bad water and a warm tank.

Thank you all for your replies. I've never done a salt bath, I'm afraid it will hurt them. I've done weekly water tests and changes, and always correct the levels if they're off. I just never got a test to check the hardness. I just want to make them better
