Pointers for herping In East, Texas

I've had a really hard time finding any newt or sal species in the local area (huntsville), I've tried lakes, streams and ponds. Doeas anyone have any advice?

i have been told going hiking is a good way to find some... other than that all i can say is keep on flippin logs and rocks. i also have trouble finding herps. but other than that good luck
