Poisonous newts

Hi,
I got two ''warty'' newts on friday night.
A friend of mine told me today that some newts are poisonous like some toads.
Can anyone tell be if these newts are posionous?

They do secrete toxic substances when stressed, but you shouldn't handle them to induce this anyway. The substances won't harm the skin but will be painful in cuts or eyes. They'll only do real damage if you eat the animals, which I'm sure you won't do.
