This is my roughly one year old axolotl. I believe these spots have been present for some time, but now that I’m transitioning her to a new tank I’m worried about fungus forming as a result of higher nitrates. Any help in deciding wether or not these spots are dangerous would be helpful. Also notice the white tips of her gills, I haven’t read anything to indicate that this is abnormal but because of her currently unstable environment I feel the need to check
The spot on the back is definitely a natural pigment spot.
I recognise the white tips of the gill feathers - I have a very spotty axolotl who had the same. I believe it's also common.
Much more important are the water values of the new tank. You are worried of higher nitrates? Why are there high nitrates in the new tank? Is it cycled?
