Pseudacris borealis

Hello all,
I recently obtained some tadpoles from a ditch near where i live. Two of them have metamorphized so i made a terrarium for them. However, I was wondering about care for them. I have identified them as Boreal Chorus Frogs (Pseudacris borealis). I have fruit flies cultures and a red wriggler vermiculture, but i was wondering if they need more variation. I have calcium/vitamin dust, should i use this for them? The two eat Fruit flies very well but i have not tried feeding them worms yet. Also i have been wondering if they are cannibalistic or not. Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

Fruit flies by themselves are not nutritious. So you will need to dust with a vitamin supplement with every feeding. Not all calcium dusts are good for this as certain ones are design for reptiles and can not be properly digested by amphibians. One easy to get that IS the correct one is repashy calcium plus. Store it in the fridge and replace every 6 months whether you used it up or not (so buy the smallest bottle).

I have no idea what other feeders may work for your frogs as this species is not commonly kept in captivity. Try multiple things and see what works.

Thanks for the info. I did not know that some couldn't be digested by amphibians.
