Was at the store and saw them on sale so I picked a shower caddy up, put it in my 15 gallon which holds my shy little 3" wild type and looked in 10 minutes later he had decided to swim up and check it out! I rarely see him do anything other than eat and hide so the fact that he swam all the way up is pretty rad. Thinking I need to put a little sponge in there for a bed and maybe covering some of it to act as a suspended hide.

Cool idea!

I need to try that as a feeder, the worms can go through the wholes and it would be interactive an everything. The inspiration! :artist:

that's cool! good way to utilize the top area of the tank, wouldn't have thought of that!

I've used those under hob filters to block current! The soap dishes work well for this too.:D

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
