I just got an axie from a pet store that didn't have her in the best conditions so I'm wondering if her gills will relax and her tail will straighten? Also she stands on her tippy-toes... is that normal?

As long as your water conditions and temperature are appropriate for An axolotl your little one should be just fine. Most likely she is still just a little stressed out from the move and out may take her some time to adjust to the new environment she's in.

As for standing on her toes that's completely normal and something that all axolotls do. Congratulations on your new axolotl!

Tip toeing around checking out new home is my guess , from the picture she look ok , not so bad I think once she feels more comfortable she'll show it to you her self ;)

Her gills look ok to me. My temps are between 17 and 19 and water parameters are fine and my guys gills look like that. In fact, his left gills have had a slight forward curve since I got him. Never changes. He's happy and healthy.

Also, the curve to the whole tail is ok, sometimes they curve their tails. It's if just the end starts to hook that you have to worry.

You have a pretty axie. We'd love to see more pics!

Also are there small rocks in your tank or is that gravel? if so you should remove them asap as an axolotl can swallow anything the size of their head and gravel and rocks can quickly make your axie very sick.

Mine stand on their toes all the time so it's normal. Congratulations on your axolotl! So pretty.
