Ha ha, I thought that name was a joke ("mesotriton alpestris inexpectatus") like my own M. alpestris newts who unexpectedly laid eggs (I thought they weren't old enough) but then I googled it and saw it's real! What's the story behind that name, do you know?
 
The O. vittatus sure are cute! They have interesting head markings that I usually associate with frogs.
