My juvie axolotl had fungus a month ago. I was able to get rid of it, but since it was missing a couple of toes I decided to keep it separated from my other axolotl for a little while after the fungus had gone away. I put it back in with my other one last night, and this morning I woke up and noticed it had red spots on two of its legs. A few hours later, I noticed that those two legs were swollen and there was fungus once again, so I separated him from my other one and gave him a salt bath. I fed him a little while later, and after it looked like his stomach was pinched in the middle.
I’m really concerned, and I haven’t had any problems with my other axolotl in the 7 months I’ve had them both.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
