Hi I live in beautiful Northumberland and have a garden pond with fish and loads of frogs and water snails. I have found a red/brown/black coloured frog with red eyes in my pond I've never seen anything like this in the 20 years I have had the pond (should I be worried about this strange creature) I managed to take a photo before it darted off.

Well then posting the photo would certainly help a lot.
Judging by the description i honestly have no idea....the only european "frog" that i´ve seen with red eyes are common toads, Bufo bufo, but i don´t think there´s any chance it was one of these.
It could be an exotic escapee...i don´t know.
Post the picture and i´m sure someone will identify it for you.

O_O
Alright...i was not expecting that xDDD You seem to have an hypomelanistic (perhaps erythristic?) Rana temporaria on your hands...wow!

There´s nothing to worry about, it certainly is not a threat. It´s quite a unique specimen, really, i had never seen any like that.
If you know anyone into herpethology or zoology it would be worth telling them about it. Perhaps it will reach the ears of someone interested enough to make an official report.
