Sneaky, my young Notophthalmus, has something wrong with him. I noticed a reddish patch on his belly (between his front legs) yesterday. This morning, his entire ventral surface is covered with red. I'll try to get a pic, but he's not cooperating. He's acting perfectly normal - eating, exploring, etc - but this looks really bad :( The skin doesn't look raised or damaged, just really angry red.

Anyone have any ideas? Help!

ETA: bad pics - sorry for the quality!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
