Lately I've realized worm farms have been trendy for the rich soil and fertilizer they produce from material such as cardboard, paper and food compost. I'm thinking about starting one and pulling worms out to feed newts. My question is can I feed them Red Wigglers?, I have found a lot favoring both sides. Most that say yes said you need to run under water real quick for like 10 seconds due to stuff on it that needs to be washed off.

I have a red wriggler culture that I feed to my newts. I don't need to take any special precautions other than not cutting them up. I just let the adults breed and take the babies that are small enough to feed to my newts whole. Some people say that the worms give off the nasty taste when threatened, but I only smell it and see my newts reject it if I cut them. Once the newt gets a taste of the worms' defense secretion they may refuse them for a week.

That's my experience with them. Good luck!

Ok thanks been wondering, good so the people that complain must be the people cutting them
