Refrigeration??

Kristen, did you read the cooling methods article linked above? That may give you some additional ideas. As a "first aid" measure, stop using the light if you have one, and remove the tank lid. To avoid having the axies jump out (they can!), either lower the water level or put a screen of some sort over the tank. Evaporation will lower the temp by at least a couple of degrees F.

I read it last week but just reread it to refresh my memory. I hope what I did today will help. I lowered the water level, took off the cover, and put a fan over the water. I also did a water change and made the replacement water a degree or two cooler than what was in the tank. I haven't been using the light for more than a few minutes a day. It's been unexpectedly hot this weekend, but is supposed to go back down next week, if only temporarily. Maybe I'll put the guys in the fridge for a little bit, if I'm really having a hard time with the temp.

I just wanted to report that all is nice and chilly after the recent measures I took. :D I haven't even had to put anymore water bottles in the tank, and it's about 68.

I'm having a big problem with cloudy sand, though. I posted about it in the tank set-up folder, if anyone would be so kind as to check it out and offer advice. I'm very upset over this, thinking I'm fixing one problem only to run into another, and I don't want to hurt my little babies.
