Retarded baby axolotl

Every creature has the right to have a chance to live. As you say he is eating I would let him take his chance. If he was in pain he would not eat. He is just special deserves his part of life the same as any living creatue.
We would all love to see a picture please.

I'm fairly sure I've read somewhere about someone noticing wild types growing faster than leucies (but then again, I've also read a thread saying the opposite) - if that's the case, maybe there is a chance he'll even out, of the diffrence doesn't get too large. However, if he stops using the lighter side, he'll get muscle wastage too.
I guess you'll just have to do the responsible thing if he ever looks to be suffering + make sure he never breeds ;)
As for the word retarded, to me it's highly offensive, but at the same time, I know you didn't mean it that way (plus, words are more or less offensive in different countries, so if I'm gonna use a multi-cultural forum, I have to bear in mind that what might be considered offensive / swearing might be every day language, with no stigma attached, in other countires ;) )

Having said that, I would very much prefer if the title could be altered to something less offensive + "jump out at ya" by an admin, if possible + if 'Pebble doesn't mind

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I would like to say that I feel that would be unnecessary. Yellowpebble used the term in it's politically correct sense, the same way that any doctor or physician would.

I don't think it is right to censor a word when it is used the way it is supposed to be used, even though it has negative connotations when used improperly. When that starts, you end up having to tip-toe around everything.

Again, sorry as this is irrelevant to the actual thread topic... just my opinion :)

I happen to agree - it's the attitude behind the use of the word that is key.

That aside, we recently curbed a silly thread on turkey basters rather than risk offending someone - on t'interwebz it's often very easy to miscontrue what someone is saying.

That's very true. While the internet is a great means of conveying large amounts of information, it's solely information, and rarely can you transmit feelings and nuances of how you want that information to come across. So some things sound rude or inappropriate when they were meant to be funny or just deadpan.

yeah sorry everyone! I don’t mind if it gets censored...

and yes I am a girl! But you can call me a he if you want to :D

the leucstics of my bunch are growing a lot slower than the albinos and wild types actually, even though they seem to all be up to the same stage of growing their front legs, they just seem a lot smaller. Maybe he will straighten out!

The last one of my babies that has just hatched is in a u shaped as well. Im watching this thread with great interest.

I'm sorry to say my special U shaped axolotl died a few nights ago. It was very sudden, he didn't look sick and he was eating fine. One afternoon he was gone :(

it was interesting because he was growing with the others to a point and then stopped. The other babies are reaching 1inch and a bit now, but he stopped around 3/4s of an inch. He still lived seemingly happily for a few weeks after he stopped growing.

I buried him in my houseplant. It grew a flower last night :)

keep us informed on your special one as he grows Lea

Sorry to hear that yellow,

One of my babies wasnt eating right, but i got it to eat perfectly, all seemed fine was growing etc, then dead :( Nothing you could have done,

How i see it, is that you managed to get it to grow and eat, so what more could you ask for?

I had exactly the same situation last year - a curly u-shaped axolotl larvae that I aptly named 'Curly'.
He ate fine up until one day, and then he was gone :( It's really sad.

Yellowpebble sorry to hear about your baby.........My u shaped baby passed away on sunday as well. She was eating and growing just like the others.

That is so sad... :( At least he had a good life and was loved. I hope that both Yellow Pebble and Lea are okay. You have both Inca and my condolences.
