I frequently stop to save box turtles crossing busy roads. Once, when I was about 6 feet away from one, a guy swerved to hit it, almost hit me in the process. The turtle exploded and actually splattered on me. I almost followed the guy to wherever he was going, but I decided I didn't want to go to jail that day. Some people are totally pathetic.
 
Phase 2 of the experiment should be hooking up a trigger to the rubber decoy that deploys spike strips or an IED and call it karma...:evil:
 
I'm not I have alway wondered why there were so many dead animals on the shoulder of the road. Just seemed weird that they all ended up there.
 
I hate people so much.....I wish there were poisonous turtles so that they too could get their revenge occasionally.
 
Since box turtles are protected in many states this would be a great sting operation for wildlife officers. A great way to generate needed money. They do it for deer poachers. So why not these asshats. I would like to see these guys get a 500 dollar tickets and 400 hours of community service cleaning highways on the weekend.

I too wondered that
It doesn't stop at turtles, snakes, and large spiders. There are stories of people swerving to hit stray cats, possums, and raccoons. Sure is a mood dampener seeing people kill things for no reason. It's a good thing a majority of people were "boring" drivers though and that an equal percent of drivers were good people who stopped rather than the "shredders."
 
we hit a cookatoo once. it was crossing the wind screen while we were driving and we couldn't break because there was another car behind us. anyway it was almost clear of the car then it decided to turn around and whack into the wind screen and over the back. the other car tried the swerve around it but instead ran over it, and we've nearly hit a few kangaroos. we pick turtles and lizards off the road in the direction they were facing. there are a lot of foxes and rabbits that are introduced on the road and people are shooting them, i know that being run over isn't the best way to go.
the problem is stupid humans introducing plants, animals and destroying the land ourselves and add politisions that don't know about farming and animals on both parties (native and introduced(demestic or ferral)) are scrowed.
everything dies sometime either from old age, illness or killed its a part of life and is simular to what goes up must come down.
sorry if it doesn't make sence.

Maybe it's the circles people run in? I never knew anyone who bragged about doing something like this, or was with someone who did this. I would freak. I would do something about it, report them or something, and certainly end the association.
 
Some people are so sick! It just sickens me that people would actually intentionally run over an animal. What goes around comes around so beware...
