I am currently kicking my own butt because I knew better.
About 15 days ago, I stupidly put 3 guppies from P-sm. in my axo tank. I noticed my male was acting off, and his color was pale yesterday. Today when I was able to do a thorough inspection, I was horrified to see that my two females have mouth rot.
I can only assume that the male is also suffering from this bacterial infection even if it's not showing on his gums.
Long story short, take a lesson from my stupidity and don't throw random non-quarentined fish in with your axo's. I've done it for years without issue, but here I am.
Anyways, they are set up in hospital tanks with indian almond leaves and I did a 11 minute dip in 1/2 dose Melafix and 1/2 dose marine salt. I've got my fingers crossed that they will recover.
How many 10 min soaks should I give these guys per day and for how long? I've read conflicting reports.
I'm currently breaking down their tank and pump to strip, and sanitize it but what about the plants?
I have my live plants and the air stones soaking in a bucket with tap water. Will the chloronated water kill off the bacteria?
Or should I do something more to cleanse them?
Thanks in advance.
