Here is a runt that I got along with a group of really nice C. e. popei. It has a really odd coloration. When I first got it in, it was pretty small, but has been bulletproof and has put on a good deal of size and weight, but yet remains much smaller than the rest.

I think it looks great! almost a pattern similiar to that of a leopard!

Give that gem-of-a-popei special attention, Justin

I haven't had any of my baby popei turn out quite like that before. Looking forward to seeing more pics of it as it grows and grows!

Wow Paul, they are certainly unique. I'm not sure if this little guy will reach adult size, nor am I sure what he will look like. I'm fairly convinced it's more than just a color variant, I think there may be something wrong with him. I still enjoy him though, as I said I'm 6' 8" and he's kind or my little mascot of irony.

I am looking for some more C. e. popei if anyone has some nice colored ones that are well started....

I'd give him special attention. When I was breeding cichlid fish, some breeder found an astoundingly beautiful variant of a normal species, now called the Blue Jack Dempsey, from a bunch of runts that would hide in a corner and didn't grow very fast.
