Hi,
Can anybody tell me the limit of distribution of bernerdezi and fastuosa.Do they overlap? do fastuosa produce live fully terrestrial neonates.

Cheers

Paul,

I was taught by a wise man - then experience - that Bernadezi and Fastuosa must both have access to water when pregnant because they don't always produce terrestrial young. It has been known for them to even have half terrestrial and half aquatic larva.

Re distribution... I have a classic "map" *somewhere*. Will catch up with you soon!!!

Matt ,

Hi Paul,

Hagen Schmidt published an article in Herpetofauna 23 (131), April 2001, in wich he told that the aren't any known hybridisation zones of the two ssp.
S.s. fastuosa surely produce fully terrestrial young high up in the Pyrenees, I don't know of any other places.
