As promised a picture of two southern Turkish fire salamanders taken on a recent field trip in which we collected many data on Salamandra infraimmaculata and Neurergus strauchii in Turkey. Data will be published elsewhere. I'll let interested ones know in due time.
We were very lucky that it had rained recently (not very common in May!) and these two apparently were not able to find their normal shelters as we found them together under a small stone in a deep gorge.

Hi Sergé,

According to this beautiful photo, this must have been a successful trip.
If it´s possible, I would like to read more about the collected data concerning Salamandra infraimmaculata.

Wow Serge! thanks very much for the picture, please post more of the various salamanadra sp

Hi all,

yes, it was a very succesful trip. Not only have we found Salamandra on several locations, but also were we able to find new localities for Neurergus strauchii within their known distribution range (see under Neurergus).
We collected mainly water quality data, morphological data and some DNA.

all tbe best,

Sergé
