The photo does make the light appeaar more pinkish that the human eye does but it is a bulb quite high in the red spectrum. It is a bulb for planted aquariums which are usually high in red.
All my tanks have a timed phtoperiod except the salamanders and i only usually switch it on when i am feeding them, only so i can see them better. They now recognise the light as a feeding cue and quite often walk out of their hiding place expecting me to start dropping in worms when the light comes on.
